Privacy & Security
We answer the questions that are actually asked — without legalese.
Overview
Where is data stored and processed?
Servers and database run on infrastructure in Germany and the EU. An external API is used for AI-guided interviews — providers are listed in detail below.
Is interview content used for AI training?
No. The AI provider does not use interview content for model training. This is contractually guaranteed.
Are my answers shared verbatim?
No. The organizer receives a structured summary — no verbatim transcripts. Qerie condenses answers automatically. The organizer cannot view the full interview history.
How long is data retained?
The interview history is automatically deleted after 30 days. Condensed summaries remain as long as the project is active. Details on retention periods below.
Detailed Questions
Technical and legal details for those who want to dig deeper.
Yes. Qerie provides a DPA per Art. 28 GDPR — directly downloadable, no request or waiting required. You can find the DPA in your account settings under “Privacy”. It covers data processing by Qerie and sub-processors (Anthropic, Supabase).
Hetzner Cloud (Hosting, Germany) — Servers in Nuremberg / Falkenstein, German company.
Supabase (Database and Auth, EU region Frankfurt) — US company with EU data localization, DPA available.
Anthropic (AI interviews) — US company. Processing based on a DPA with Anthropic. No use for model training. Third-country transfer based on EU Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.
Email delivery — for invitations and notifications. Provider: Resend (Strikingly, Inc., USA). Legal basis: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Participants see a brief consent screen before typing — four sentences max plus a checkbox. Consent is stored with a timestamp in the database. Participants can revoke at any time; raw data is deleted immediately. A detailed privacy notice is linked.
Deletion follows a soft-delete model. After cancellation, the account remains reactivatable for 30 days (Free) or 60 days (Pro/Team). After that, all interview data, analyses, projects, and the user record are permanently and irreversibly deleted. Consent logs are retained for 3 years for legal reasons, then also deleted.
Qerie is designed so that no conclusions about individuals are possible — no name, no profile, no link between interview and sender. Organizers only see condensed summaries. Whether a works agreement is required depends on the specific use case — this should be checked with the works council or legal department.
Yes. In account settings under “Privacy” there is a full data export and the option to delete the account and all associated data. The export includes all studies, summaries, and consent logs. Raw interview text is only included within the 30-day window.
